What does Remnants by Peo Vee do?

Remnants is a community-driven marketplace for creative reuse, where secondhand art and craft supplies find a new life. Members share projects, attend workshops, buy and sell supplies, and connect over a shared mission to make reuse mainstream. Founded and run solo by Molly, the marketplace operates on Shopify with 76 active vendors.

The problem

Remnants had always been part of Peo Vee's vision, but for years building it wasn't feasible. The business started as a WordPress blog and newsletter bringing upcyclers together. The available multi-vendor solutions on WordPress were clunky and limiting, and none delivered the clean, white-labeled vendor experience Molly wanted.

In late 2024, Molly was laid off from a role where she had been building startups in a corporate environment. That push gave her the time and resources to properly test her own idea. She did a deep dive across multiple platforms and plugins, and that's when she found PuppetVendors.

Why PuppetVendors?

Molly tested nearly every WordPress multi-vendor plugin she could find, along with a range of other off-the-shelf options, before deciding to move to Shopify.

Her criteria were clear: white labeling was a priority so the vendor experience felt clean and seamless. UX/UI mattered for the same reason. She focused heavily on the vendor side: how easy is it to upload a product? Is the experience intuitive or clunky? At the same time, she needed strong backend tools for payouts, applications, and onboarding.

PuppetVendors stood out because of the vendor experience. For the price, it was a high-quality solution she felt confident building on.

How they implemented it

Molly ran the entire implementation solo:

1. Set up a Shopify storefront for creative reuse products she owned

2. Ran a simple ad promoting the opportunity for sellers, using a waitlist to gauge interest

3. Once real demand was confirmed, installed PuppetVendors and onboarded the first group of interested sellers

4. Worked through white-labeling and theme customization challenges with a mix of AI support and small code tweaks

The full process took less than a month. There were some initial challenges getting white labeling to work seamlessly within her theme, but after adjustments she was happy with the result.

Results

• 76 vendors onboarded and growing, run entirely by a solo founder

• Scaled the business without adding headcount, keeping operations lean

• Recurring fulfillment tracking issue nearly eliminated entirely after Martin implemented a UX change requiring vendors to add tracking before marking orders fulfilled

• Having responsive, personal support (specifically Martin) built the trust needed to confidently invest in scaling the business
