How It Works

PuppetVendors handles the vendor logic and hands clean, attributed orders to ShipStation for fulfillment.

Per-vendor order sync. Every Shopify order is split by vendor inside PuppetVendors, then synced into ShipStation with vendor tags so nothing is mixed up in a single pile.

Batch label printing. ShipStation's strength is volume. Your team or your vendors can filter by vendor, batch dozens of orders, and print labels in one pass.

How to Set Up

Note: confirm the exact in-app labels and connection method against the live PuppetVendors app before publishing. Steps below follow the standard pattern.

Step 1: Create or log into your ShipStation account. If you do not have one, sign up at shipstation.com and add your carriers.

Step 2: Get your ShipStation API credentials. In ShipStation, go to Settings, then Account, then API Settings, and generate or copy your API key. Make sure you select V2 of the API Key.

Step 3: Connect ShipStation to PuppetVendors. In your PuppetVendors merchant portal, go to Settings, then Shipping, Shippo and ShipStation, and select ShipStation. Enter your API credentials and confirm the connection.

Step 4: Confirm vendor tagging. Check that synced orders carry their vendor tags so you can filter and batch by vendor in ShipStation.

Step 5: Set vendor origin locations. Make sure each vendor's ship-from address is configured so labels and rates are correct.

Step 6: Build your automation rules. In ShipStation, set preset carriers, package types, and service levels to automate routine shipments.

Step 7: Test an order. Place a test order spanning multiple vendors, confirm it splits and syncs correctly, and print a batch to verify the full flow.
